Sex: 4,3,3,2,2

Kiss 4 times per day; have sex 3 times a week; cuddle 3 times a day; share 2 hobbies and have 2 romantic dinners per month.

Back in March, 2009, the CBC presented an attention getting headline, "Kids, go to the store: poll says thrice weekly sex saves marriages". In this article, they talked of a poll conducted by a British firm called Confetti whose business is wedding planning. The company asked 3,000 adults married 10 years or longer to give their take of what makes up a successful long-term relationship and the consensus was this list of 4, 3, 3, 2, 2.

Of course, some of the comments to the story are amusing.

Doug: 2-1-1-1-2 would be more realistic for me after 38 years of marriage.

KimmieB: i got the numbers right just not in the same order.....1 time every 3 months....LOL

spaceman: Damn, my wife told me it was 3 times a YEAR !

johnp3: I believe that a couple that baths together stays together. If you can stay upset with your wife naked in a bath-tub, you are having troubles.

leftorbust: Cool I guess this is why my marriage is a smashing success, we do it 3 times a year whether we need to or not!!!................Oh, wait, that's 3 times week????.............No, that must be a typo........

UbiquitousOne: Men are like linoleum flooring. If you lay it/him right the first time you can walk all over it/him the rest of your life!

*********

According to About.Com's report on a survey done by Durex, people have sex on an average of 127 times per year or 2.4 times per week.

Wikipedia states: In America, the average frequency of sexual intercourse for married couples is 2 to 3 times a week.

Wow, 2 to 3 times per week? According to The Kinsey Institute there are differences as one moves from age group to age group.

*********

According to StatsCan, the number of divorces in 2003 was 223.7 per 100,000 while it was 58.8 per 100,000 in 1968. That is an increase of 280%.

According to Kinsey:
Nearly all Americans marry during their lifetime, yet close to half of all first marriages are expected to end in separation or divorce, many within a few years and subsequent marriages are even more likely to end.

Final Word
Do I really have a final word? [chuckles] There seems to be advice galore on making it work but the stats seem to show that we are failing to make it work a lot of the time. Obviously we must be introducing a few zeros in our 4, 3, 3, 2, 2. That's a few missing kisses, cuddles and romantic dinners. One plus one equals two but a few 3's and a four could keep the two a two instead of seeing two minus one.
