Little Violet: Don't Stop

Make it ooze with the unthinkable
Don't stop till you come first

Life so unpredictable
Take control of what you're worth

Wasting time's forgivable
But nobody wants to grow old

It's time for the original
to come and break the mold

take it easy
Just one step at a time
and baby you'll be fine

Take a leap, don't hold back
Get yourself back on track
Keep on moving, don't stop
Don't stop, don't stop

Let your senses guide you
Shake it up, inspire you
Do anything you want to
but don't stop, don't stop

Remember how you made it here
A game of truth of dare

You rolled the dice with confidence
Now the fortune we can share

Our finish line is drawing near
Just keep your eyes on the prize

A muted style is calling you
I don't try it on the side

take it easy
Just one step at a time
and baby you'll be fine

Take a leap, don't hold back
Get yourself back on track
Keep on moving, don't stop
Don't stop, don't stop

Let your senses guide you
Shake it up, inspire you
Do anything you want to
but don't stop, don't stop

A crowd of hungry animals are eager to sneak in
If you can find that leap of faith
Than let the games begin

Awaken to a paradise
I'll smile at your every command
Remember to take the good advise
And avoid the sinking sand

take it easy
Just one step at a time
and baby you'll be fine

Take a leap, don't hold back
Get yourself on track
Keep on moving, don't stop
Don't stop, don't stop

Let your senses guide you
Shake it up, inspire you
Do anything you want to
but don't stop, don't stop

Take a leap, don't hold back
Get yourself on track
Keep on moving, don't stop
Don't stop, don't stop

Let your senses guide you
Shake it up, inspire you
Do anything you want to
but don't stop, don't stop

Pricasso: Seminal Performance Art

Tim Patch, commonly known by his professional stage name Pricasso, is an Australian artist who is known for using his penis, scrotum and buttocks to paint portraits, landscapes and female nudes... Patch chose the name of "Pricasso" – a portmanteau of prick (a slang term for penis) and Picasso. (Wikipedia)

Sorry, I was mistaken before. Now I can say I've seen it all. As Monty Python would say, "And now for something completely different."

Performance art is, by its very definition, a performance. It may engage us. It may bore us. But however you judge its artistic merits or its entertainment value, it at least made you look.

"There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
-Oscar Wilde

Mr. Patch, as his story goes, was inspired to try his, ahem, hand at this in 2005 after seeing Puppetry of the Penis, a theatre show of naked men contorting their privates into various positions with comic narration. Hey, if the gals get The Vagina Monologues, wasn't it inevitable the guys would do something?

Pricasso said that portrait work is the most challenging type of painting, so he set himself a goal of painting an accurate-looking portrait within 20 minutes. Due to normal paint containing lime, which erodes the skin, Pricasso makes his own water-based paints. Before he begins painting he also covers his penis and buttocks in Vaseline in order to work for several hours without causing irritation to his skin. (Wikipedia)

video NSFW: So, how exactly does he do it?
I thought you would never ask. And voilà, I found the following video which graphically, explicitly, unequivocally, shows you precisely how a man uses his genitalia to stir up a controversy... I mean, paint.

Sexpo
Mr. Patch's nom de plume is reportedly a regular attraction at Sexpo, the world's largest adult show. You can come out and have your portrait done and watch the artist in action.

But is it art?
Okay, ignoring the how, what does anybody think of the what? Just what are the final results?

Final Word
There is certainly a novelty factor, no doubt about it. The art seems to be adequate. If you don't have the opportunity to meet Mr. Patch in person, I see from his web site that you can order your portrait for $274 USD. You apparently get a video of the master at work.

When Ordering Please Specifie G, PG, or 18+R for the rating of the Video
(G) Tasteful shots as you would see on TV no penis shots
(PG) Showing the process of penis painting with close up flassid [sic] penis and bum shots from all angles
(18+R) Same as (PG) but about a third of it painted with the penis Erect, to shock your friends

By all means, 18+R. I want the whole enchilada. I want to brag how Mr. Patch found working on my painting to be stimulating. (or fill in your own joke here)

I'm sure your average Joe or Josephine will be dismissive. This is ridiculous. This is stupid. But I do have to admire performance artists as they put themselves out there and leave themselves totally open to ridicule. Now you may say they deserve it, but they do come up with original ideas. And who knows what people may think in a hundred years? Remember Andy Warhol's Campbell Soup Cans?

[In 2010 the 6-foot-high painting] “Big Campbell’s Soup Can With Can Opener (Vegetable),” sold at Christie’s International for $23.8 million. (Bloomberg)

Who knows where Mr. Patch may end up in the eyes of art lovers? I wouldn't be surprised if his namesake Pablo would not only approve, but wonder why he didn't think of the technique himself.

The Pussycat Dolls: I Don't Need A Man

I see you looking at me
Like I got something that's for you
And the way that you stare
Don't you dare
'Cause I'm not about to
Just give it all up to you
'Cause there are some things I won't do
And I'm not afraid to tell you
I don't ever want to leave you confused

The more you try
The less I buy it
And I don't have to think it through
You know if I'm into you

I don't need a man to make it happen
I get off being free
I don't need a man to make me feel good
I get off doing my thing
I don't need a ring around my finger
To make me feel complete
So let me break it down
I can get off when you ain't around
Oh!

You know I got my own life
And I bought everything that's in it
So if you want to be with me
It ain't all about the bling you bringing
I want a love that's for real
And without that, no deal
And baby I don't need a hand
If it only wants to grab one thing

The more you try
The less I buy it
And I don't have to think it through
You know if I'm feeling you

I don't need a man to make it happen
I get off being free
I don't need a man to make me feel good
I get off doing my thing
I don't need a ring around my finger
To make me feel complete
So let me break it down
I can get off when you ain't around
Oh!

Let it go
Let it go
Let it go
Let it go
[Repeat 4X]

I don't need a
I don't need a man, I don't
I don't need a man
I'll get me through
'Cause I know I'm fine
I feel brand new

I don't need a
I don't need a man, I don't
I don't need a man
I'll make it through
'Cause I know I'm fine
Without you!

I don't need a man to make it happen
I get off being free
I don't need a man to make me feel good
I get off doing my thing
I don't need a ring around my finger
To make me feel complete
So let me break it down
I can get off when you ain't around
Oh!

I don't need a man (I'm over you)
I don't need a man (I'm over you)
I don't need a man
(I'm without you)
(I'm over you)

I don't need a man
I don't need a man
I don't need a man

Oh!

Milo Moiré: Giving Birth to Performance Art

Published on Apr 12, 2014 by MiloMoire
The "PlopEgg" Painting Performance #1 (Art Cologne 2014)
A Milo Moiré Performance @ The Opening of Art Cologne (Text by Elaine Abrams)

An upright standing nude on a loft... One with ink and acrylic fueled egg... A preserved canvas...

What the spectators are about to expect, is the compressed birth of a piece of art.
Slowly the egg leaves the natal canal of the artist and smashes on the canvas, red colour flows out. The next egg contains another colour and so bit by bit, accompanied only by loud "Plops", an abstract art work originates -- archaically, uncontrollably and intuitively. At the end of this almost meditative art birth performance the stained canvas is folded up, smoothed and unfolded to a symmetrically reflected picture, astonishingly coloured and full of strong because universal symbolism.

Performance Art
Years ago, I ran across an art book about Christo, a performance artist famous for wrapping things like entire buildings. His most notable works include the wrapping the Reichstag in Berlin in 1995 and the Pont-Neuf Bridge in Paris in 1984 plus the 24-mile (39 km)-long Running Fence in California in 1976. I admit that at first, I didn't get it. Why do something only to dismantle it shortly thereafter? I didn't understand the idea behind performance art. The objective is not to make something which will last, the objective is the doing. The art, if you will, is in the process of creating, constructing, of doing what you're doing.

Saying that, I add that I don't get Jackson Pollack. Yes, I'm an art dunderhead. Then again, it looks like he had a good time throwing stuff at the canvas. In researching this, I discovered artist Millie Brown ingests coloured soy milk and regurgitates it to create paintings. Ms. Brown has come to the public eye after appearing in a live video where she, ahem, throws up on the dress of pop singer Lady Gaga. We all have our 15 minutes.

I was at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival held on September 13, 1969. During the performance of the Plastic Ono Band, Yoko was on stage under a blanket screaming into a microphone. Yes, screaming. She was doing performance art while we the audience wanted to hear John Lennon. I still remember the chant which started in the crowd, "ONO! Oh yes!"

It all makes for a good story. "I was there when..." But would I want to be the first of my block to own a painting created through the "natal canal"? Call me old fashioned; I was expecting a number two brush. Nevertheless, Monday morning around the water cooler, I can tell everybody I saw it with my own eyes.

Other (unusual) Art

my blog: Ellen Jong: The body as performance art - July 28/2011
In 2006, she published her first monograph, "Pees On Earth", a collection of self-portraits taken while urinating in public. In 2010, she published "Getting To Know My Husband’s Cock", a collection of pictures of her husband but not limited to that one body part.

Performance video where Milo Moiré walks naked in the tram Düsseldorf , with names written in black clothes on his body.

Always the same way to work, day after day...it is early in the morning...FAR TOO EARLY for performance art!
The semi-automatized operating according to an internalised script...enter, pass through, punch the ticket, sit down...
Disturbed by a completely naked woman, right in the middle of it, dressed in words... What will happen? Astonishingly...
NOT THAT MUCH!

The Vendor Client relationship - in real world situations

Produced by Scofield Editorial, Inc.
The Vendor Client relationship - in real world situations

The challenge
Budgets are shrinking, clients expect more for their dollar. We get that. Not only do we have our own experience, we hear stories from our clients and our vendors. So, armed with a camera and our tongues planted firmly in-cheek, we set out to have a little fun with an issue that can sometimes be a bit delicate.

The solution
We pitched ideas around the lunch table, told stories of our own, recounted stories that had been told to us, and came up with three characters that we felt could bring some humor to issue. And so, on a lazy Saturday, we got together and got to work.

Recognition and results
2 million (and counting) YouTube hits. Addy awards at the local, regional, and national level. And hundreds of comments, e-mails, phone calls, handshakes. We struck a universal truth, and people from all walks of life, doctors to tow-truck drivers all said, “This happens to me too!”

Jackie Loeb: Unhappy

It might seem crazy what I'm 'bout to say
My first world problems gettin' in my way
Went to pilates and forgot my mat
Ran out of bottled water and now I'm drinkin' tap

Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you feel like the world's about to end
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you've only got twenty Facebook friends
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you can't get almond milk in your latte
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you don't like the atmosphere at Met Café.

Couldn't find quinoa on the supermarket shelf
My housekeeper's sick I had to clean myself
Went for a walk and I had no wi-fi
I couldn't send a tweet thought I was gunna die.

Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you can't afford gluten free bread
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you're still sleepin' on the futon bed
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you have to fly economy
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you're still usin' an iPhone three

[spoken]

Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you don't know how to park your SUV
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if a wheel is broken on your trolly
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if your botox and your fillers have gone slightly wrong
Cuz I'm unhappy
Clap along if you're done with clapping to this song.
